418 Community Development Plan

While residential sprawl continues to grow along the Town's major roadways, there is no plan to manage commercial development along Route 16 or Route 146. Regional pressures for sharing infrastructure and promoting appropriate economic growth along these corridors as well as pressures to regulate the development of 40B mixed income residential development projects require that new steps be undertaken. Larry Koff & Associates prepared the housing, economic development and Action Plan recommendations of this 418 Community Development Plan. Six key strategies were recommended. An economic impact analysis of developing in a greenfield showed that the Town should focus its economic development activities on the Route 146 Corridor. Other strategies dealt with establishing consensus with respect to priority areas for housing and economic development and reorganizing oversight of housing and economic development activities.
